My Fun-Filled Week in Spain.

One of my very favorite cities in the world is Barcelona, Spain. Just a few weeks ago, my parents, my younger sister, my aunt, and I lived it up in what is known as the “Gothic Quarter” of this great town. Our spacious AirB&B was on the fifth floor of our building, and we were eventually able to obtain a key for the patio a floor above us, on the roof. The views there of Barcelona were simply stunning and breathtaking.

Ever since I became a young adult, I have wanted to visit Barcelona. I took three years of Spanish in high school, and a semester in college. I am told that immersion is the best way to learn a new language, and because I had already visited Mexico and parts of Central America, Spain was obviously the next on my list. I am a nature lover and always prefer to visit locations that offer a lot of greenery. Way back in the day, while I was still in college, I did some Internet research and discovered that the north of Spain is the greenest part of the country. The name of the big city in that region that came up was of course Barcelona.

My parents knew of this, and so a few years ago they approached me, saying that they wanted the three of us to fly out to Barcelona. Until that point, we had visited Italy but never Spain. The first part of the vacation was very enjoyable, but partway through I contracted a painful stomach bug that we suspected was caused by some tainted seafood in a pasta dish I ate.

So, when, a few months ago, I heard that we would be visiting Barcelona for a second time, I rejoiced! This was the opportunity to experience one of my very favorite cities once again, and this time, do things right by staying healthy.

Needless to say, this excursion was one of the very best vacations I have ever had. I fell in love with the “Gothic Quarter” almost immediately. The architecture there is simply phenomenal, and it is unmatched and unparalleled. Additionally, the food in Barcelona was delicious. The city offers interesting museums and churches, and features copious buildings designed by the renowned late architect Antoni Gaudí.

I would highly recommend that you all go to Barcelona, Spain, if you get the chance. Our flights to get there were fairly straightforward: we flew out of LAX, landed in Paris, and then continued on to Barcelona.

My fun and successful second experience in Spain only served to remind me that in life, there is always justice. If something does not fully work out on your first attempt, instead of getting discouraged, you just summon the will to try again. You will not be disappointed.
