My full given name is Gavin Milner Haffner. I was born in 1992 in Ventura, California, one of three children. As a young adult, I always loved to read. I strongly feel that even the best writers learn from reading the works of others.
I graduated from Occidental College in the fall of 2016 with a B.A. in Political Science.
My vociferous passion for writing began in the fifth grade. Since then, I have written dozens of academic papers, including a 44-page capstone project on same-sex marriage and the Supreme Court while an undergraduate at Occidental. I was also fortunate enough to take a creative writing class at my local community college, with a very gifted professor who coached me through various literary projects.
In my free time, I author fictional short stories, some of which are published on this website. I have found that I am able to grow as a person by generating various autobiographical and introspective pieces.
I chose the pseudonym G.M. Haffner for multiple reasons. Firstly, I wished to include my middle name, Milner, which is also my mother’s maiden name. Secondly, one of my literary idols, J.K. Rowling, has utilized a similar pseudonym. And finally, I have always found the idea of having a literary pseudonym to be appealing.
