Our Recent Vacation to Hawaii.
My recent trip to Hawaii with my parents was of the most enjoyable travel experiences I have ever had. The flight was high-caliber, the amenities at the hotel were splendid, and the food was delicious. As I write this post, I can almost smell the fresh island air that signifies the paradise that is Kauai.
Because we have been to Kauai before, we are familiar with the island, so this time we decided to take it easy, and spend the vast majority of our time either at our resort, or at restaurants which were walking distance from it.
The hotel we stayed at is on the south shore of the island, and is called the Ko’a Kea. It was very intimate and laid-back, and is in fact one of the best resorts I have ever been to. It featured a nice pool and hot tub, which was where I spent a majority of my time. On top of it all, the beach was only steps away from our room.
I normally am a fairly busy person, so having six days just to relax and unwind was a total godsend. Ever since I have gotten back, I have felt extra invigorated. This is what a vacation in Hawaii does for a person. Additionally, traveling with my parents was a total boon, because I always enjoy spending time with them.
Ever since I was a little kid, I have felt drawn to destinations that are lush and green. Kauai, as one of the wettest islands on earth, is both. There is something about getting lost in nature that has always strongly appealed to me. Whenever I am at the beach in Hawaii, I often ask myself: If one went in a straight line away from the island in the direction I am facing, where would one end up? Apparently if you are on the south shore of Kauai, you would eventually hit Antarctica. This just goes to show that: 1) I am a very inquisitive person, and 2) The Hawaiian island chain is extremely geographically isolated. Additionally, did you know that fully 96% of Kauai remains undeveloped?
I feel that the vast majority of people who visit Hawaii do not end up going to Kauai, because it can be too far off the beaten path. They either go to the more densely populated island of Oahu, the more “resort-y” island of Maui, or the more volcanically active Big Island. However, I cannot help but feel that Kauai is the best island in the chain.
As the famous poet Robert Frost himself once said: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” This about sums up what is like to go to Kauai, and for this reason alone I strongly encourage you to fly there one day.
