Visiting My Friend Koda in San Diego.
A short while ago, one of my best friends, Koda Delgado, moved down to San Diego with their family. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to take the train down there from Ventura twice, to spend time with Koda and everyone.
Koda’s apartment complex is basically brand new, and features a nice big pool and hot tub. We like to swim and listen to music there. A couple of times, Koda’s friend Ramon even joined us. It was so nice meeting him. Koda’s niece Rio walked over to the pool with us one time as well. Koda knows how much I like swimming and hot-tubbing, so they made sure that we spent as much time at the pool complex as possible.
The train ride from Ventura to San Diego is incredibly smooth and enjoyable. It is relatively easy and straightforward to buy tickets online, and I use the travel opportunity to catch up on reading and listen to music and just relax. One time when I was en route to San Diego, I ran into my good friend from Toastmasters, Lee, who was on the same train but heading to Fullerton.
Koda and I have known each other for years now. We first met when we were both attending the LGBT adult social group in Ventura known as Thrive. We then bonded over Toastmasters, because fairly early on, Koda decided to join Club 24. They have since then served as our club president, and under their tutelage we achieved the coveted status of President’s Distinguished.
While I visited them in San Diego, Koda’s family went the extra mile to make me feel at home. Their sister Toria even made me a special vegan cheesy pasta dish. We additionally watched our favorite show House and walked all over Koda’s apartment complex. I always enjoy spending time with Koda. I also happen to really like San Diego, and the small-town vibe of Santee, where Koda lives, is very appealing.
Last time I was in S.D., I even included my parents by FaceTiming them on my iPhone. They were very curious about Koda’s new living situation. They are of course familiar with the train, because I have taken it to both my alma mater Occidental College in L.A., and my late grandmother’s house in the O.C.
To conclude, I am so blessed in life to always be supported by the ones I love. My life changed for the better the day I met Koda and their family. I would love to go back to San Diego sometime in the near future to visit them all again.
