About the Ventura County Fair.

Every August, my hometown of Ventura comes alive because the fair is in town. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always gone to this event. My experience this year, with my dear friend Anthony, was the best that I have ever had.

Right away, I noticed a major difference, which was that a new ride was present. This was, funnily enough, a water ride. Anthony and I naturally decided that we simply HAD to go on it. It reminded me of a mini Splash Mountain. For those of you who do not know, Splash Mountain was a high-intensity boat ride at Disneyland Park. As we were boarding the attraction and I got a close-up look at its drop, I became slightly apprehensive, but I ended up having a really good time, and was so glad that Anthony and I had opted to try something new.

The Ferris wheel was revamped also, and was both larger and taller. This simply yielded even better views for Anthony and I. It is our tradition to go on this ride every year, and I love it each and every time. It was even easier to experience the rides this occasion, because a new wristband ticket policy was in place.

The food was also updated. I tried a vegan strawberry Dole Whip for the first time, and it was delicious. I was also fortunate enough to try fresh watermelon juice, and candied Gushers, which were excellent. They simply have everything at the fair.

I have been to the fair with my parents; I have been to the fair with my siblings; and I have been to the fair with my friends. It is a yearly tradition for me. Back when I was a little kid, my parents would walk us over to the local high school, which was where we would pick up the free fair shuttle. They even bought us cotton candy and an inflatable animal one year.

For the last few occasions, I have been going to concerts at the fair as well. Anthony and I very much enjoyed seeing Bush perform this year. Our friend Lyndie even joined us. The venue is very intimate, so we were seated relatively close to the stage.

It is always a joy and pleasure to run into someone I know at the fair. One year, we ran into my high school Honors Biology teacher, and another, we ran into my dentist. I feel like, in a way, all of Ventura is represented at this event.

I am most definitely looking forward to going to the fair again next year. Some things never really get old, whether because they are always evolving, or because they are often experienced with a wide variety of people.

If you plan to be in the Ventura area next August, I would strongly suggest that you visit this event. You may even run into me there!
